Covid 19

Due to Covid-19 the Farnham Pilgrim Marathon will be a different experience than in the previous ten years.

Restricted to 200 Full and 300 Half marathon Runners

The Farnham Weyside Rotary Marathon Committee are doing extensive work to try and keep you safe. We intend to organise the marathon in some format following Government guidelines which change almost daily. We are planning to deliver an event that is enjoyable and fun. The event will not have a mass start but, at present, timed slots are planned.

We are determined to allow you to run the same beautiful course, the routes for the half and full marathon will be fully signed as in previous years.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer t-shirts or chip timing (hopefully we can do manual timing).

Medals will be supplied thanks to Winkworth lettings and Sales estate agents.

Risk assessments have been submitted on making the Farnham Pilgrim Marathon Covid-19 safe for competitors and our officials. We have been in extensive talks with our insurers and we are confident that by keeping to the rules we can keep you safe.

The present situation following Government guidelines would mean that we would have to start competitors 6 at a time with a 10 minute gap, for each group, this would create a gap between competitors. The race would be timed and the winner being the first to complete the course from start to finish line.

Important how you can help now

If you have an entry and want to run with friends, we are planning to make the groups of 6 up by choosing names in the same running clubs and teams, please login to and add a running club or name to your entry to make this easier for us – (some running clubs may have more than 6 runners, these will be obviously split, you can choose to add a number for the team ie Blackwater Valley 1 Blackwater Valley 2, these still need to be a maximum of 6).

Waterstops will be not as frequent as normal, every 6 miles, some water would need to be taken and all competitors would need to supply their own water at the finish.

All competitors will be tested before the start with an infra- red temperature gauge.

Masks will need to be used in the start pens, A very small bottle of anti-bac Gel and gloves will need to be used in case of emergency,  runners will need to social distance at all times, there are places to pass on the course, so we will ask all to keep their distance.

All these points could change if the situation improves.

The course will be well marked and marshals will be around the course.

Thank you to those who have already signed up, all proceeds go to local charities. If you chose the t-shirt option when you signed up, please get in touch so that we can, if you wish, refund the £5 charge for t-shirts.

Please keep safe – keep running safely.
