So, after much deliberation (and a Facebook Poll) indicates that you would like us to alternate the course – forwards one year, backwards the next. For 2020 we will be running the traditional route, forwards!
Many other things will stay the same, tasty cakes and flapjacks at the finish the beautiful scenic views across the Surrey Hills, some gruelling hill climbs and of course our fabulous, friendly marshals.
Our 2019 event raised around £20,000 for mainly Local charities which is a jump up from 2018 thanks for our wonderful sponsors who covered many of the costs for us.
We have been aiming to make our event as environmentally friendly as we can, mainly by reducing the waste we create;
When you buy your entry you will now have the option to add on a t-shirt, making sure we are not buying more t-shirts than we need – you collect your T shirt and Race number before the event 🙂
This year we are planning to supply some foldable Reusable Cups – you will be able to refill at the many water stations – Connect with us on Facebook to give us your thoughts.
We are using the Same signs we have used for the last 10 years and reusable wire ties, we Sweep the Course of any litter whilst collecting the signs. Please don’t drop Gel packets.
We give charitable Donations to Village councils along the route and to local Church Charities to help Renovations.
Once again Farnham Weyside Rotary have won awards for this Marathon and are anticipating a sold out event this year so don’t leave it too long before confirming your entry!

Meet Some of Runners
We have a huge variety of people running the Pilgrims Marathon, fast and slow, tall and not so tall, first timers to many members of the 100 marathon club, all with personal goals .
The photo below has two amazing people who took part last year.
A young lady ran our marathon a few years ago under the name Tyre Girl but after completing 50 marathons she rightly promoted herself to Tyre Lady. She was back with us in 2019, raising awareness for Earthwatch and promoting environment responsibility, (she has advised Pilgrims organisers) . She runs marathons and ultra marathons towing a tyre behind her!
Clark Kent (real name) AKA Superman is a regular at the Pilgrims Marathon, he is a member of the 100 marathon club and has completed over 500 marathons!!
If you are going to be joining us on the 13th September and are doing something a bit different then reply to this and let us know what your plans are.. we like weird and wacky racers !
