Not up for running? Injured … Why not participate in another way
The Farnham Pilgrim Marathon has become one of the most successful and popular events in the running diary. This is due not just to the amount of work that is done by the organising team but also to the outstanding and selfless contribution and commitment from our volunteers. We know that the success of an event is its people and this is why so many of our team volunteers and officials return year after year.
However we are always looking to expand our team of enthusiastic, friendly and reliable people to ensure the easy going and professional atmosphere of our races. If you think you have these qualities we would love for you to join us.
Our volunteers not only create a safe environment for the athletes but they also have a lot of fun doing it, not to mention the sense of accomplishment that comes with being part of something that is really appreciated by the athletes. We pride ourselves that our team is just that ..”A team”… with a team spirit and camaraderie that makes the event a lot of fun, and not just for the athletes.
Race Marshals/Water Stations
Our greatest need is for race marshals, you don’t need to be experienced to do this, as you will always be placed with someone who is. What is needed is the ability to give clear directions, encouragement and most importantly a huge smile to all our worthy competitors. We also need people to man water/refreshment stations around the course. This will involve handing out drinks to runners as they pass by. Again the most important skill for this is to be able to smile and be encouraging – this is very much appreciated by the competitors.
There are also lots of other jobs that are vital to the success of the event on the day. So if being a marshal is not your thing, perhaps you might like to consider helping out in areas such as registration, car parking, bag drop, start finish setup/dismantle and various other tasks that may crop up on the day.

Please note all marshal volunteers need to be 18 or over on the day of the race or be supervised by an appropriate adult.
Our last Runner marshal John Applebee has been a outstanding volunteer for the past Pilgrim Marathons, helping and encouraging the last runners get to the end.
